Hollybrook Schools Maths Curriculum

Intent

Learning maths at Hollybrook schools will provide our children with the fundamental skills that enable them the opportunities for a successful future.  Maths is a life skill and is not just learnt through mathematics teaching but across the whole curriculum so that the children have a context for their learning.  We aim to equip children with mathematical language, for them to be competent in written and mental calculations and above all to encourage children to have a love of number and problem solving.  We sequence our curriculum so that learning is ambitious but in small steps so that the children build regularly on prior knowledge.  We believe that all children should have the time to practise and apply their learning to make progress in maths.
